Construction of COMTREA’s Mary’s House of Hope at A Safe Place is ongoing with hopes of having the first housing unit finished by spring.

Kim Elbl is the Vice President of Fundraising and Development at COMTREA. She says along the way COMTREA was able to get a couple of grants to help fund the project.

One of the grants was for $160,000 from the Federal Home Loan Bank out of Des Moines, Iowa.

The second grant was a challenge grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation.

Barb Tenholder is the Director of COMTREA’s A Safe Place and she says Mary’s House of Hope is transitional housing for victims of domestic violence and the program is geared towards getting the victim financially stable.

Again, COMTREA is hopeful that the next housing unit of Mary’s House of Hope at a Safe Place is open by March.
