Coronavirus cases skyrocket in Jefferson County

(Jefferson County) Jefferson County is reporting its highest number of positive COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Health department spokeswoman Brianne Zwiener says from CDC week 51 to 52, with week 52 being the last reporting week of 2021, the county saw an 85 percent increase in COVID cases.

Unfortunately, Zwiener mentions the positive case count might go up even further in relation to all the holiday gatherings that have taken place in the past two weeks.

Less than half of eligible Jefferson County residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID.
