(Farmington) The Secretary of State wants to do away with Missouri’s presidential preference primary.

Republican Jay Ashcroft made his comments about the system while testifying before the House Budget Committee.

Ashcroft says Missouri uses caucuses that choose delegates for the Republican and Democratic national conventions.

He says it costs 9-point-1 million dollars to hold a presidential preference primary.

If lawmakers approve Ashcroft’s call, it would not impact the process this year.
