Courtney Wright of Perryville Cross Country Runs Her Way Onto Regional Radio Dream Team

(Perryville, Mo.) After running past the competition all season long, Courtney Wright of Perryville cross country landed a spot on the Regional Radio Dream Team.

Wright says it’s very cool to get that kind of recognition from other area coaches.

Having spent the past three seasons in the Pirates’ cross country program, Wright says head coach Shadrick Shafer makes it about so much more than just running.

With an impressive career already under her belt as a junior, Wright has lofty expectations for her senior cross country season.

Wright finished every regular season race inside the top 10 and added a 6th place finish at the conference meet, a 4th place finish at the district meet, and a 15th place finish at the Class 3 State Championship Meet.

She ran a personal best time at the state meet with a time of 19:30 which broke the previous Perryville school record for girls of 19:51 which was set all the way back in 1997.
