Coverage Of Boys And Girls Black River League Semifinals On J98

(Annapolis) Thursday evening on J98, we’ll have the semifinals of the boys and girls Black River League Tournament at South Iron High School in Annapolis. The girls games on Wednesday were rescheduled to Thursday so we’ll begin with the 3rd Ranked Team in Class 1 and Undefeated Lady Panthers taking on the Bunker Lady Eagles.

Two weeks ago, South Iron defeated Bunker 93-38 and Eagles coach Brandon Robinson says the Panthers are legit.

Panthers coach Lawrence Graves is expecting this game to be different from their previous meeting.

Following that one is a boys game between the 8th-ranked team in Class One Bunker Eagles and East Carter. The 10-4 Redbirds beat Lesterville Tuesday night 94-65.

East Carter coach Jordan Penn says this game could be a clash of styles.

Bunker is 9-2 with losses to South Iron and Gainesville. These two were supposed to play last week but the game was postponed.

Eagles Coach Rod Gorman says it should be a very competitive game.

In the second girls’ semi-final, the defending Class 2 State Champion and top-ranked team in Class 2 Ellington Lady Whippets face off with the East Carter Lady Redbirds.

Ellington got the best of the Redbirds in their last regular season meeting 76-42, but East Carter Coach Angela Rodgers says her ladies learned some things from that game two weeks ago.

Ellington Coach David Burrows says his teams’ defense needs to stay on top of the ball.

The final game of the night is between the 14-2 South Iron boys play 4-9 Ellington. The Panthers continue their dominance at the top of the M.B.C.A. polls as the best team in the state in Class One. Ellington and Clearwater went to overtime Tuesday night and the Whippets won 83-81.

Coverage for the semifinals of the Black River League Tournament starts at the conclusion of Bids for Bargains (3-5pm on The Boot) around 5 o’clock Thursday evening with the Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show on J98.
