COVID-19 cases continue to drop in Jefferson County

(Jefferson County) COVID-19 cases in Jefferson County are back on the decline.

While the news is welcomed, Brianne Zwiener with the Jefferson County Health Department says the county remains in red status.

Just under 50 percent of county residents have been fully vaccinated with around 19.5 have received their booster shots.

While covid cases are down, flu cases increased this past week.

On Thursday, the JCHD reported 34 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 52,626 since March of 2020.

The total number of active cases is 349, and there have been 493  deaths since the start of the pandemic.
