Covid-19 cases still rising in Jefferson County

(Hillsboro) The CDC Week 30 Covid-19 update for Jefferson County has positive cases still rising in the area. Brianne Zweiner is the Public Communications Officer for the Jefferson County Health Department. She says the latest numbers keep the county well into the Red.

Zweiner says the numbers are reaching where they were towards the back end of 2020.

One positive number from the update is an increase in those getting vaccinated.

On Friday, the JCHD reported 70 new cases of Covid-19 in the county, bringing the total number of positive cases to 25,934 in the county since March of last year. The active cases have increased to 816, and now there have been 260 deaths since the start of the pandemic. Of those five additional deaths reported this week, they include three males in their 50s, one female in her 60s, and a female in her 80s.
