Covid-19 numbers still high & West Nile found in Festus

(Hillsboro) Daily Covid-19 positive cases continue to remain high and will most likely keep Jefferson County in the Red Status with the Covid-19 Color Guidance Indicators. Jefferson County Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says the positive cases from those spreading the virus during the Labor Day holiday is a good reason why numbers are still high.

On Tuesday, the Jefferson County Health Department reported 146 new cases of Covid-19 in the county, bringing the total number of positive cases to 29,325 since March of last year. The current active cases are 933, and there have now been 288 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, mosquitoes that tested positive for West Nile Virus were found in and around Sunset Park in Festus.
