(Bonne Terre, Mo.) The St. Francois County Health Center reported an outbreak of new COVID-19 cases at the prison in Bonne Terre on Friday. Health Center director Amber Elliott says all 2,686 inmates and staff have been tested and 21 of them have tested positive with COVID-19.

Elliott says not all tests have come back yet so there could be more positive cases, however, she did say that all 21 cases at the moment are asymptomatic. Elliott explains the process of how the virus may have gotten into the prison.

Elliott updates us on the current numbers of positive cases in St. Francois county after the outbreak in Bonne Terre.

There has still just been two deaths in the county due to COVID-19. For more information, go to sfchc.org.
