(Jefferson City) The COVID-19 related State of Emergency is ending in Missouri on the final day of the year and Governor Mike Parson says it will not be renewed.
The Republican governor said, “thanks to the effectiveness of the vaccine, widespread efforts to mitigate the virus, and our committed health care professionals, past needs to continue the state of emergency are no longer present.”
The state of emergency had been extended five times since it started in March of 2020.
With its expiration, the Missouri National Guard will no longer be activated for COVID-related missions.
New cases are setting daily records in the U-S and coronavirus numbers are still on the rise in Missouri.
