COVID Count Hits 40 Million

(Atlanta) The official COVID case count in the United States has now surpassed 40 million, health officials say.

The new tally was announced Tuesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which also reveals the U.S. is now averaging upwards of 1,500 new cases a day, more than any other country in the world.

Hospitalizations are now averaging 101,747, which is more than double the number announced after Labor Day 2020, per the CDC.

Worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases throughout the world reached 221 million on Tuesday, according to the CDC.
