(Bourbon) The board of directors of Crawford Electric Cooperative, based in Bourbon, made the difficult decision to cancel plans for an in-person annual meeting of members.

A news release from the co-op says due to the ongoing pandemic, a large gathering in the co-op’s facility is simply not prudent.

This meeting typically draws more than 500 members and about a thousand total attendees, including workers.

All voting for the board director positions will be via absentee methods.

Now, the annual business portion of the meeting will be live streamed starting at 10 Wednesday morning, September 15th.

Viewing details will be made available CrawfordElec.com.

Only the three incumbent directors had submitted nomination petitions.

Even though there is not a contested race, Crawford Electric encourage members to vote because all voters will have the chance to win one of more than 75 prizes, like electric credits, free electricity ranging from 10 to 500 dollars worth.

There will also be dozens of beef packs, processed from cattle purchased this summer in support of local youth agriculture.

Voting opens Friday, August 13th and runs through September 13th. Members can vote using a mail-in ballot, via a secure portal online, or though the SmartHub account management app.

To request a mail-in ballot, members should call the co-op’s independent voting contractor at 888-401-0169.
