(CRYSTAL CITY) Crystal City Athletic Director and multi-sport coach Ken Jones appeared on KJFF Sports Talk Wednesday to discuss the upcoming 2018-19 sports season. Football was the first topic with new head coach Dan Fox settling in nicely. Jones says things are a bit different with Fox running the show.

Jones is also looking forward to Week 5 of the season on September 21st for Crystal City’s homecoming with Jefferson coming to town. The second sport discussed was boys and girls cross country in which Jones is the head coach of and has been the last 15 years. Some state runners from last year’s team will again run for Jones.

The last fall sport discussed on KJFF Sports Talk was girls volleyball with Laura Helwig again in charge. Jones says they’ll have two levels of teams again this year and senior Riley Meyer is expected to do great things for the varsity squad.

Crystal City volleyball begins Monday at Valley Caledonia at 6 pm. For the winter season, Hornets boys basketball will have a new coach with Sean Breeze taking the same job at Jefferson R-7. Lee Richardson is coming from Lesterville and will run the program this year.

The Crystal City football team kicks off the season Friday at Chaffee, then at Kelly the following week. Crystal City’s first home game will be on September 7th against Principia. Tune into KJFF Sports Talk Thursday at 4:15 as Hillsboro Athletic Director Edward Moreno comes onto the show along with Hillsboro softball head coach Kevin Lucas.
