(CRYSTAL CITY) Crystal City High School’s Ken Jones joined KJFF Sports Talk on Friday to wrap up our 3-week Jefferson County Athletic Director Summer Series.

Jones addressed the flooding of the district’s football field, J.J. Commerford Stadium. Jones said that he and some volunteers have been cleaning it up a bit.

To keep everyone’s spirits up about the whole thing, Jones says that not everything has been ruined by the standing water.

Jones added that next week some companies are going to visit the stadium and see what can be done to fix the playing surface. As for the football team itself, Dan Fox will be entering his 2nd season running the show.

Hornets football will kick off the 2019 season on August 30th against Chaffee. Homecoming will be Friday, October 11th against Herculaneum. Jones says that while the football stadium is getting fixed, Crystal City will be playing home games elsewhere and Homecoming would be at Herky.

For volleyball, as of now, Jones says that this will be the last season for longtime head coach Laura Helwig.

The first serve of the season for Crystal City volleyball will be at 6 p.m. on September 5th at Bismarck.

Last but not least, spring baseball will have a new head coach. Replacing Ricardo Pastrana will be Bryan Weible.

The baseball schedule has not been released. For the other fall sport mentioned, cross country, the Hornets will participate in the Jackson Invitational on August 31st to began their season.
