Crystal City boys’ hoops pulls away from Grandview in big third quarter on KJFF

(Crystal City) The Crystal City Hornets were firing on all cylinders exactly when they needed to.

The home team ended a losing streak with a 61-29 win over the Grandview Eagles Friday night on KJFF.

Early on, senior forward Calloway Dashner led the way for the Crystal City offense.

But after Grandview cut the deficit to nine at halftime, the Hornets pulled away in the third quarter thanks to another senior.

Nate Pruneau scored eight of his 12 points in a quarter where Crystal outscored the Eagles 21-5 to seize control of the game.

Hornets head coach Phil Tessereau said the way his players executed the half-court offense was key to making that run possible.

Crystal City ends a 5-game skid to get its first conference win of the year and improve to 5-9 overall

Grandview falls to 3-12, including 0-2 in the JCAA Small-School Division.
