Crystal City girls host Valley Caledonia in district semis on KJFF

(Crystal City) The high school basketball postseason is in full swing, and Tuesday features a showdown on KJFF between the Valley of Caledonia Vikings and the Crystal City Hornets in the Class 2 District 4 semifinals.

Both programs have had their struggles this season but are just two wins away from a championship.

Crystal City is no stranger to getting hot at just the right time.

Lead by senior Annie Waites and sophomores Molly Clemmons and Kate Eisebies, the Hornets managed to win a district title last year despite a 4-20 record in the regular season.

So, even as they enter Tuesday at 4-13, head coach Ken Jones says his girls believe they’re going to come out on top again.

Valley of Caledonia is just 4-15 but knocked off Northwest Academy of Law Monday night in the district quarterfinals behind junior forward Katie Campbell.

The Vikings have also won six of the seven meetings with the Hornets.

The Valley Vikings visit Crystal City Tuesday evening in the Class 2 District 4 semifinals.

Pregame coverage starts at 5:45 on AM 1400 KJFF.
