Crystal City’s Bassin slugs his way onto baseball Dream Team

(Crystal City) Hunter Bassin blasted a bevy of baseballs in his final season with the Crystal City Hornets.

His exploits on the diamond earned him a spot on the Regional Radio Dream Team.

Bassin bashed 20 extra-base hits, including 7 home runs and 41 runs batted in.

But even with those gaudy numbers, Bassin is humbled to be among other great players.

Along with scoring 28 runs, Bassin posted an eye-popping .563 batting average and slugged over 1.170, some of the highest numbers in the entire St. Louis area.

Bassin says his new head coach Zach Weiss taught him a lot about beating the mental aspect of hitting.

Bassin also dominated as a pitcher, allowing just a 2.08 earned-run average.

But he gives all the credit to the people around him.

Bassin set single-season records at Crystal City for homers, RBI and batting average.

He will continue to play baseball at Mineral Area College in Park Hills.
