Dangerously cold temperatures cause for health concerns

(Jefferson County) Dangerously cold temperatures and wind chill values are forecast through this weekend as an arctic storm system sweeps through the region.

Daytime high temperatures will struggle to remain above 0 while wind chills could dive down to 30 below zero which is a huge health risk for those who stay outdoors.

Julie Dale is a nurse practitioner at Mercy-Go Health Urgent Care in Jefferson County. She lists the kinds of ailments freezing temperatures can cause.

Dale explains the warning signs that it’s time someone needs to seek medical care due to exposure.

The best thing to do is stay inside where it’s warm; however, Dale has this advice for those that have to be outside in the elements.

The arctic airmass alongside below freezing temperatures is expected to remain in place through the Christmas holiday weekend.
