(CRYSTAL CITY) The St. Vincent Indians and Saxony Lutheran Crusaders prevailed in the quarterfinals of the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Boys Basketball Classic tonight on the MYMOINFO SPORTS STREAM.

St. Vincent as the top seed knocked off 8th-seeded Grandview 75-45 behind 23 points from Alex Brickhaus and 21 points from Garrett Dobbleare. Each of them had their individual shining moments in the contest.

The win puts St. Vincent into the semifinals on Wednesday against Saxony Lutheran who gutted out a 57-55 victory over Crystal City in the other quarterfinal game last night. In that game, the Hornets led by as much as 18 in the first half.

With Saxony down by 12 at the half and then down by 12 at the end of the 3rd, the defensive pressure became too much for the Hornets in the 4th. As the Crusaders made their come back, it was point guard Tysen Miller who put them on top midway through the final period.

The Crusaders hung on to win by two and advance to the semifinals against St. Vincent on Wednesday at 5.

Day 2 of the quarterfinal round of the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Classic is tomorrow on AM 1400 KJFF. The first matchup features the 2nd-seeded Jefferson Blue Jays and the 7th-seeded St. Louis Patriots.

The Blue Jays are once again led by Sean Breeze who coached the team to their first-ever district championship last year. Coach Breeze hopes that this tournament helps build a little cohesion between the guys.

The Blue Jays will be taking on the St. Louis Patriots who went 8-7 last season. The tip-off is at 5. Following that game will be the 3rd-seeded Scott City Rams taking on the 6th-seeded Herculaneum Blackcats. The Blackcats are once again led by Jason Jarvis who coached them to a 9-15 record last season.

Coach Jarvis and his players know that Scott City is a tough first-round draw and that things won’t get any easier from there.

The Rams finished with a 17-9 record last season and are under the direction of Mark Dannenmueller once again this season. Herky and Scott City tip-off at approximately 6:30. The coverage of both games will begin tomorrow at 4:45 on AM 1400 KJFF.
