Day 2 Central Chirstmas Tournament Recap

(Park Hills) The host and second seed Central Rebels boys team started off our broadcast action on J-98 with a 91-37 victory over 15 seed DeSoto.

The Rebels couldn’t have asked for a better start.

Those were the first of 26 total points for sophomore Caden Casey. His teammate Jobe Bryant ended up outscoring him though.

Bryant finished with 29 points to earn the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game. Rebels coach Brad Gross says Tuesday night was nothing new for the sophomore.

Central improves to 6-1. DeSoto drops to 1-9.

7th seeded Hillsboro pulled away late to take down #10 Herculaneum 70-53. The Hawks led by two at the end of one, pulled ahead by 12 at halftime and eventually turned the lead into 20 points. Noah Holland led the attack for Hillsboro with 28 points, seven rebound, and five steals. He was scoring every way you can….

Hillsboro coach Dan Johnson praised the play of his 6’2″ guard…

Hillsboro improves to 5-3 and plays Central in the quarters at 7:00 Wednesday on J-98. Herky falls to 3-4 and will play DeSoto on the consolation side at 10am Wednesday morning.

Festus is the three seed and beat 14th seed Crystal City 69-44. It was a true team effort for the Tigers as nine different players got in the scoring column.

That was sophomore Carter Roth who was awarded the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with 11 points and three three-pointers. Festus coach Jason Therrell was proud of his team.

Festus improves to 6-2. Crystal City drops to 4-5.

6th seeded Ste. Genevieve concluded the night with a convincing win over #11 Fredericktown 54-33. The Dragons scored the first eight points of the game and built their lead from that point on. Rudy dominated play with his rebounding and physical play….

Flieg finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds.
Ste. Gen pushed to 27. Fredericktown trimmed it to 15 in the 4th quarter, but never could really threaten.

Ste. Genevieve improves to 7-2 and will play #3 Festus in the quarters Wednesday at 8:30 on J-98. Fredericktown falls to 3-4 and will play Crystal City on the consolation side at 11:30.
