De Soto man arrested after allegedly breaking into home south of Festus

(Festus) A De Soto man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a home south of Festus, damaging the inside of the residence before getting into a scuffle with sheriff’s deputies.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell says deputies responded to the home break in on January 20th in the 3600 block of Flucom south of Festus.

Bissell says that’s when a scuffle between the suspect and deputies began.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital to be cleared “fit for confinement” before being booked at the county jail.

The sheriff’s office is seeking charges of 2 counts of Aggravated Assault with a weapon and 2 counts of Burglary.

The De Soto mans name has not been released pending formal charges from the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
