De Soto man severely injured in garage fire south of De Soto

(De Soto) A man from De Soto was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital last Thursday afternoon after receiving severe burns in a garage fire south of De Soto.

De Soto Rural Fire Chief Tom Fitzgerald says the call came in around 4:30 Thursday afternoon to a residence in the station house 5 coverage area of Highway 21 and Vineland Road.

Medical personnel immediately tended to the injured man.

The current status of the 30-year-old man is unknown. No one else was injured in the fire.

The cause of the blaze is not considered suspicious and is being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.
