Democrats Blast Governor Parson for Comments

(Jefferson City) Missouri Democrats are blasting Governor Mike Parson for suggesting people shouldn’t vote in Tuesday’s elections if they don’t feel safe.

Parson said Thursday during a news conference, “I hope people feel safe to go out and vote but if they don’t, you know, the number one thing their safety should be number one. If they don’t feel safe, then don’t go out and vote.”

Missouri Democratic Party spokesman Kevin Donohoe says “Parson should be protecting Missourians’ right to vote instead of recklessly trying to suppress it.”

Most voters in Missouri will be deciding city council and school board races along with local ballot measures on Tuesday.
