DeSoto baseball older than most, shooting for the stars in 2021

(DeSoto) The DeSoto Dragons will be a rare breed in high school baseball this season.

Few teams can call themselves veteran after everyone missed last season.

But DeSoto head coach Matt Buechting is excited because his players are not only older, but excited about being back on the diamond.

Seniors Nick Krodinger, Levi Fischer and Hunter Dil all have experience as full-time players from their sophomore season.

Buechting says it’s going to be crucial that those guys become the Dragons’ stars.

DeSoto went 11-10 during their last full season in 2019.

But Buechting believes the Dragons can go to bigger and better places.

DeSoto will start the season Friday and Saturday at the Opening Day Classic in Ste. Genevieve.
