DeSoto doubles up to host Hillsboro in baseball on KJFF

(DeSoto) It’s a double-dip of Jefferson County Baseball Friday on KJFF when the Hillsboro Hawks visit the DeSoto Dragons in a JCAA Large-School Division doubleheader.

DeSoto has raced out to an 8-3 start behind veteran stars like junior Caleb Coleman and seniors Hunter Dil, Levi Fischer and Ethan Sampson.

Dragons head coach Matt Buechting believes faces new and old are giving his team a chance to go from good to great.

Hillsboro has swung the bats well so far this season thanks to sophomore Austin Romaine, junior Conner Jenkins and seniors Zach Whaley and Noah Shuman.

But Hawks head coach Kevin Lucas says turning around a 1-5 start begins with what they do when they put down the bats and pick up the gloves.

The Hawks have won the last 5 meetings with the Dragons.

Hillsboro meets DeSoto to open conference play Friday afternoon, with first pitch of the first of 2 games at 4:30.

Pregame coverage starts at 4:15 on AM 1400 KJFF.
