DeSoto Football Embraces the New Dragon State of Mind

The DeSoto Dragons are fresh off a 1-9 season in which many of the games were not close. Former Hillsboro assistant coach Russ Schmidt has been tasked with righting the ship. Coach Schmidt is ready to embrace the process of rebuilding the culture of a team that has lacked one in recent years.
In the days since Schmidt has arrived on campus, he has seen improvement from his team.
Coach Schmidt appreciates the work from quarterback Austin Misi and his offense, especially since they are installing a new system. The new scheme will be centered around pounding the rock and running the clock.
A scheme like this one will likely lead to more close games. DeSoto is a team that will have to learn how to win, especially when the score is tight. Coach Schmidt hopes to make winning the new meaning of an old mantra.
Another part of the “Dragon State of Mind” is attention to detail. Coach Schmidt says that failure to address the little things can hold the program back.
DeSoto opens it’s season at home against Bishop DuBourg on August 25th.
