(STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo.) – The semifinals are now set in the Class 4 District 2 baseball tournament after three first-round games at Yanks Field in Ste. Genevieve Monday on J-98. The DeSoto Dragons grabbed a 5-1 victory over the Fredericktown Blackcats in game one. Fredericktown took the first lead in the fourth, but the Dragons quickly answered with a timely hit from Camren Krodinger.

Dragons coach Matt Buechting said the big hit from Krodinger set the tone for the rest of the offense.

In the second game, the North County Raiders edged out the Central Rebels 5-2. North County’s Kolten Poorman got the victory on the mound, with Karter Kekec delivering a big hit in the second inning.

Raiders coach Chris McLain said the whole team put in a good effort.

An exciting final game saw the Potosi Trojans walk it off in eight innings over the Festus Tigers by a score of 3-2. Despite Charlie Pratt striking out 12 Potosi batters in seven innings, the Trojans got to him with the score tied in extras off the bat of Ryker Walton.

Trojans coach Steve McCoy said Walton also did well on the mound with some strong defense behind him.

Play will continue in the Class 4 District 2 tournament with the semifinals Wednesday. The top-seeded Ste. Genevieve Dragons will face #4 Potosi and then #2 North County will take on #3 DeSoto. Both games can be heard on J-98 Wednesday with coverage starting at 3:45 p.m.
