DeSoto police handles loose emu call

(DeSoto) The DeSoto Police Department received an unusual call on Saturday, a loose emu was spotted around town. DeSoto Police Chief Jeff McCreary says officers were able to capture the large flightless bird without any injuries to the animal or the officers.

Chief McCreary says there are some area residents that own emus, but no one has come forward to claim the bird.

The emu has been temporarily placed at a petting zoo facility until the owner can be found.
