DeSoto seeks turnaround in Week 2 against Poplar Bluff on KJFF

The DeSoto Dragons are hoping for a bounce-back in Week 2 of the new season when they face the Poplar Bluff Mules in Jefferson County Friday Night Football on KJFF.

DeSoto grabbed the early lead last week in their opener but ultimately fell 49-21 at Seckman.

Dragons head coach Chris Johnson says, if they want to do better in their first home game of 2020, they’ll have to execute for all 4 quarters.

Last year’s top receiver Ethan Reissing has moved to quarterback and hooked up with fellow senior Levi Fischer for 2 touchdown passes.

Leading rusher Dominic Punjani is also back and racked up over 100 yards in Week One.

Johnson says he’s told his top offensive weapons they’ll need to be that good and maybe better every week.

Poplar Bluff went 4-6 last season but started 2020 strong with a 42-0 win over Agape.

Mules head coach David Sievers says his team will try to mix it up on offense.

But Sievers also says that, due to the nature of their Week 1 game, this is his team’s first real test.

Coverage begins Friday evening at 6 with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show leading to kickoff at 7 on AM 1400 KJFF.
