DeSoto turf field construction underway

(DeSoto) The ground has been broken to build the new multi-purpose turf field at the North Sports complex in DeSoto. The new turf field is being constructed by ATG Sports in Festus, which has constructed numerous turf fields at area high schools. Don Bollinger is the owner of ATG Sports. He says this field can be used for several different sports and can host several games at once.

Bollinger says they will use special fences for baseball and softball that can easily be moved around and is safe for the players.

DeSoto City Manager Todd Melkus says this facility has a hefty price tag but will include all the features.

This project is largely funded by the parks and stormwater tax passed by DeSoto residents in 2018. The complex will be utilized by the DeSoto Little League, DeSoto schools, and local soccer clubs. They hope to have the complex completed by the first of August.
