DeSoto wrestler Hartwell commits to William Penn

The DeSoto Dragons will be sending another wrestler to the collegiate level.

Senior Isabella Hartwell has committed to wrestle at William Penn University in Iowa.

Hartwell says the Statesmen were a perfect fit.

Hartwell started wrestling her sophomore year, when a friend encouraged her to join the team.

That friend is 2-time state champion Jaycee Foeller, who Hartwell says is as good a sparring partner as she is a companion.

But Hartwell also says she’s had a great support group in her time at DeSoto.

Hartwell will join William Penn in just its third year of team competition in women’s wrestling.
