(DESOTO) DeSoto cross country had a great showing at the Cape Notre Dame Invitational last weekend as the girls finished 1st out of 15 teams and the boys finished 2nd out of 20 teams.

It was the first time the girls team finished first this season. One particular stand out for the girls was senior Lillie Kaempfe, who set a personal best with a time of 19 minutes and 52 seconds.

Head Coach Aaron Young talks about the incredibleness that is Lillie Kaempfe.

The 2nd place finish for the boys is the highest in at least 6 years, according to Coach Young.

Lillie Kaempfe’s season-best time was 1 of 4 season bests for the DeSoto girls while Will Kaempfe’s season-best time was 1 of 5 season bests for the boys. DeSoto cross country will next participate in the Potosi Invitational on Saturday morning.
