DeSoto’s Kaempfe races into boys’ track Dream Team

Will Kaempfe of the DeSoto Dragons has showcased that he is one of the top distance runners in the area.

After making the Regional Radio Dream Team in the fall for cross country, he adds that same honor from the coaches for track & field.

But he says this type of dominant career wasn’t something that he planned, and instead is just another stop in a wonderful journey.

Kaempfe earned Class 4 all-state honors in the 3,200-meter race, an event he also won a conference championship in.

But he admits he had to learn to put in the work to achieve great things.

Kaempfe also ran a leg of the 4-by-800-meter relay team that qualified for state this season for DeSoto.

Among the many people to thank, he specifically looks to coaching.

Kaempfe also earned all-conference honors in the 800 and 1,600 meters.
