DeSoto’s Kaitlyn McGinnitey is 2019 Girl’s Track and Field Dream Team Athlete of the Year
(DESOTO) DeSoto All-state hurdler Kaitlyn McGinnitey was voted by area coaches as the 2019 Regional Radio Spring Dream Team Athlete of the Year for Girl’s Track and Field.
McGinnitey finished All-State in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles while setting personal best times in both. She ran the 100 in a time of 14.99 seconds and then ran the 300 in a time of 45.47 seconds. Getting under 15 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles was a big deal for McGinnitey. She recalls the moment when she found out she accomplished the feat.
McGinnitey says that running track at DeSoto has taught her valuable lessons.
McGinnitey will continue running track at Maryville University in St. Louis and talks about the things that she will take with her from her time as a Dragon.
DeSoto’s Kaitlyn McGinnitey wraps up her career in Class 4 with 8 state qualifications and 3 All-State finishes.
