(DESOTO) After becoming a state champion in pole vault his senior year at DeSoto, Mayson DeRousse went off to Missouri Southern State University in Joplin to continue his athletic career.
While there, DeRousse set a new all-time personal best jump with a height of 15’5″.

Despite setting a personal record at Missouri Southern, DeRousse is transferring closer to home and will join Maryville University’s track and field team this fall.

Other than being homesick, DeRousse also chose Maryville because now he will be reunited with his club coaches.

At Missouri Southern, Mayson DeRousse was majoring in Conservation and Wildlife. However, he will be majoring in Exercise Science at Maryville with his sights set on becoming a physical therapist. DeRousse will be a sophomore pole vaulter at Maryville beginning in the fall of this year.
