District Title Rivalry Ignited Between Farmington and North County Boys Tonight on J98

(Bonne Terre) The final piece of district hardware from our listening area will be earned tonight when the North County and Farmington boys square off on the hardwood for the Class 5 District 2 title on J98.

These foes have met twice this season with the Raiders taking both meetings – 57-53 in the Christmas Tournament 3rd place game on New Year’s Eve, and 83-68 on February 2nd with the MAAA Large School title on the line.

However, Farmington enters tonight’s game playing arguably their best basketball of the season as winners of six straight while averaging 81 points per game over that span.

After their 78-65 semifinal win over Festus, Knights’ head coach Terry Noble said his team’s chemistry is at an all-time high.

North County has been on a run of their own having one of their best seasons in program history with still only one loss on the year and as winners of 15-straight.

The Raiders had to grind out a 63-59 win in the semifinals against a relentless DeSoto team to reach tonight’s championship.

After that game, head coach Jimmy Palmer acknowledged that Farmington is playing well at the right time.

Coverage of the Class 5 District 2 boys basketball championship between #1 North County (22-1) and #2 Farmington (18-7) gets underway at 5:45 this evening on J98.
