Doe Run Company Makes Donation to Local School Districts’ STEM Programs

(Bunker) The Doe Run Company has pledged 9-thousand dollars to support STEM curriculum at three area school districts.

Tammy Stankey is the lead mining company’s director of communications.

She describes what these donations will help these school districts achieve.

The other district receiving a donation from the Doe Run Company is the North Wood K through 8 School District, located just north of Salem.

Doe Run’s donation will fund STEM kits that enable middle school students to build prototypes, perform experiments and analyze and interpret data.

Stankey says this type of curriculum fits in well for those thinking about a career in mining.

Over the past year, the Doe Run Company has donated 49-thousand dollars to support stem programs and scholarships for elementary through college-level students.
