Doe Run Company Offering Explosive Camp Scholarships

(Rolla) The Doe Run Company is offering three full scholarships to the Missouri University of Science and Technology of Rolla explosives camp this summer.

Because of the pandemic, the camp will be all virtual this year.

The camp is led by Dr. Paul Worsey.

He tells us what will be learned during this special summer camp, which is scheduled for June 28th and 30th along with July 7th and 9th.

This camp is so popular, even Heavy Metal legend Ozzy Osbourne stopped by Rolla and took part in some explosives training a couple years ago.

Doe Run’s scholarships cover the 300 dollar camp cost and are available to students who will be in high school this fall.

Students from Bunker, Central, Ellington, Farmington, Kingston, Lesterville, North County, Potosi, Salem, Steelville, Viburnum and West County are all eligible.

Applications can be obtained from the student’s principal or guidance counselor and they must be submitted by May 1st.

The three scholarship winners will be announced by June 1st.
