Donnell Elmer Hayes of Festus passed away Saturday, he was 79 years old. He was a retired carpenter with St. Louis local #2214 Carpenter’s Union, an assistant Chief with Jefferson R-7 Fire Department, A Scoutmaster for the Jefferson R-7 Boy Scouts, member of Faith Baptist Church, and Sunday School Teacher. He was a beloved family man who loved to garden, camp, fish, and hunt, especially for wild turkey.

He is survived by his wife Judy “Diane” Hayes, daughters Denise Bolds of Saint Louis, Deneen Mains of Festus, Donna Lowe of Festus, sisters Betty Hayes of Festus, Valene Ferguson of Festus, 5 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Donnell Hayes will be Friday at 11:00 at Faith Baptist Church in Festus with Interment at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 4-8 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, and then again on Friday morning from 10, until the time of the service at the church.

Memorials in his honor can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Leukemia/lymphoma Society.
