Dozen Bruin Harvested in Missouri Black Bear Hunt

(Farmington) Missouri hunters harvested 12 black bears during the state’s third bear-hunting season.

Wednesday was the last day of the season.

Nine bears were harvested in Zone 1 where 173 hunters had permits to hunt the zone.

Three bears were harvested in Zone 2 where 125 hunters had permits to hunt that zone, but no bears were harvested in Zone 3 where 44 hunters had permits to hunt in that zone.

All bears were harvested by firearms.

Of the 12 bears harvested, three were boars and nine were sows.

Four new counties saw their very first bear harvested this year.

Last year, 8 bear were harvested and during the first year, 12 were harvested.

In the three black bear hunting season, 32 bears have been killed.
