(ANNAPOLIS, Mo.) – The South Iron Panthers girls basketball team is still undefeated after a 61-40 home win Thursday night over the Arcadia Valley Tigers on J-98.

It was actually a quick start for AV, as senior point guard Katie Whited put in a big three at the end of the first quarter.

That momentum carried into the early parts of the second, as junior Gracee Smith made a layup plus the foul.

Smith, a Dream Teamer from last year, ended up leading all scorers with 23 points.

However, that early bucket plus the free throw by AV marked the only points they would score in the second.

South Iron went on to outscore the Tigers 16-3 in the quarter, as freshman Madison Ayers made two three-pointers.

Madison finished with 14, just behind her sister and Dream Teamer Michaela Ayers who scored 22 points and was our Applebee’s Player of the Game.

Panthers head coach Lawrence Graves says his team stayed the course after a tough start.

South Iron is now 5-0 and will play at Fredericktown on Monday.

For Arcadia Valley, the record is now 2-2 and they’ll travel to play another undefeated team in Ste. Genevieve on Monday.

That game will be aired on the MyMoInfo SportStream.
