Drowning at Lake Wappapello Prompts Water Safety

(Wappapello) Lake Wappapello in southern Wayne County had a good run of no drownings this year but that came to an end last weekend after a man from Puxico drowned in the lake.

This sad event prompts the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the lake to focus this weekend on water safety.

Last Sunday’s drowning happened about two miles west of the Lake Wappapello dam.
