(Herculaneum, Pevely) The Dunklin R-5 School District just wrapped up their We Go Hungry So Blackcats Don’t fundraiser. Both Superintendent Stan Stratton and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Clint Freeman created a weight-loss fundraiser to pay off their school lunch debt of around 48-hundred dollars. Dunklin Communications Director Matt Lichtenstein says both superintendents did a great job getting pledges from sponsors and the goal was surpassed.

Most of the pledges, $3,500 and change were individual donations of a fixed amount. Businesses contributed $1,542.00, and the rest, $591.00, were pledges for each pound lost. Since the goal was surpassed, the remaining funds will be used to continue to help with outstanding lunch debts accumulated for this school year.
