(Herculaneum) During its monthly school board meeting, the Dunklin School District hired Pevely Elementary’s next principal.

Katherine Dunlap will take over the role on July 1st following current Principal Angie Ritzel’s last day.

Dunlap is currently the Assistant Principal of both Murphy and Brennan Woods Elementary in the Northwest School District. She has been in education since 2011 where she started as a Paraprofessional at Taylor Early Childhood Center in the Dunklin School district.

Ritzel will be leaving Pevely Elementary to become the next Principal of House Springs Elementary in the Northwest School District.

In the same meeting, the Dunklin school board also hired Trenton Sauer to be the first ever Dean of Students at Senn-Thomas Middle School.

The newly created position will handle most of the student discipline, oversee student activities and help with other duties as assigned by Principal Tracy Lewis.

Sauer has been working in the Mehlville School District as a physical education and health teacher since 2008. He has also worked for Trinity Catholic High School and in the Ste. Genevieve School District. He has coached football, basketball, and baseball.

He will take over as Dean of Students at Senn-Thomas Middle School on July 1st.
