Dust from the Saharan Desert in Africa Making its Way through Missouri this Weekend

(Jefferson County) Dust from the Saharan Desert in Africa is making an almost-unprecedented journey across the Atlantic Ocean this week, and will drift over our area through this weekend.

Melissa Mainhart is a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in St. Louis. She explains how dust from Africa can make it all the way to North America.

So, how will the dust affect the weather.

With thunderstorms likely this weekend, Mainhart mentions the dust might actually stick to surfaces as the rains pull down the desert particles from the sky.
