(Annapolis) For the fourth consecutive year, South Iron boys basketball coach Dusty Dinkins has been recognized by his peers on the Regional Radio Winter Dream Team. Dinkins was named the Boys Basketball Co-Coach of the Year along with Central’s Brad Gross.

Dinkins wanted to thank the other coaches in the area…

South Iron won their third straight Class 1 State Championship this season. The Panthers are one of five boys basketball programs in the 97 year history of the the state championships to complete that feat. Dinkins says everyone involved with the team is starting to realize how special that is…

Martez Burse was named to the Dream Team and the Class 1 Co-Player of the Year. He was a major in part in South Iron’s success, averaging 21 points and 7 rebounds per game while leading the team in most statistical categories. Last season, Burse scored about 10 points and grabbed 3 rebounds per game. The Panthers were an experienced group, but it’s hard to deny how important Burse was to this year’s team.

Dinkins says there wasn’t just one single moment that made him believe this team could win a state championship, but he did discover something at the Central Christmas Tournament after the Panthers won back-to-back one point games…

South Iron went 28-4 this year.
