Eagle Scout Project Completed For Festus-Crystal City Elks Lodge

(FESTUS, CRYSTAL CITY) As many people may be aware, there is a special process to dispose of old torn and tattered American flags. A Festus High School senior recently completed an Eagle Scout project to provide a box for those flags that need to be retired. Connor Mooney built a large wooden box to be placed at the Festus-Crystal City Elks Lodge #1721. He says the Elks supported his efforts since the start.

Current Elks Exalted Ruler Buddy Shadowens says the box is a great addition to the lodge.

The box to properly dispose of American flags can be found inside the Festus-Crystal City Elks main entrance lobby. Once the box is nearly full, they will hold an official ceremony to burn the flags on the lodge grounds.
