Ellington Girls Advance To State Championship Game

(Springfield) For the second straight state playoff game the Ellington girls used a second half surge to advance in the bracket with a 65-51 win over St. Paul Lutheran (Condordia) in the state semifinals in Springfield. Ellington led by only four at the half behind 16 points from Kaylee King, but used a 30-12 run take a commanding 22 point advantage in the second half. In the game heard on J-98, King dominated the scoring for Ellington with 6-3s and a total 29 points.

King was our Applebee’s of Farmingon player-of-the-game. Laura Gore poured in 16 points with 3-3’s and Dylan Price added 9. Ellington girls head coach David Burrows says his team came ready to play.

The Lady Whippets are back in action in Springfield tomorrow. They’ll play Wellington-Napolean for the state championship tomorrow (Saturday) at 2. It’s a rematch of last year’s state title game that Ellington won 63-56.  You can hear the game on J-98 beginning with the Flieg’s Equipment pre-game show at 1:45.
