(ELLINGTON, Mo.) – The Ellington Whippets baseball team made history this year winning its first-ever state championship. As a result, area coaches voted Whippets coach Jake Hime as the Regional Radio Dream Team Baseball Coach of the Year. Hime said he’s incredibly grateful to earn this recognition.

Hime said the team overcame some obstacles to finish with a 29-1 overall record.

Ellington became the first one-loss team to win the Class 2 state baseball title since the 2009 Valle Catholic state championship squad.
