Ellington’s Kaylee King Shines in Freshman Season, Lands on the Regional Radio Dream Team

(Ellington, Mo.) The only freshman basketball player to make the cut this year, Kaylee King of the Ellington Whippets excelled in her first varsity season and landed herself a spot on the 2019-2020 Regional Radio Girls Basketball Dream Team.

King says it was exciting for her to make the team but she would not have been able to do it without the help of her teammates and coaches.

A key player for a Whippets team that won over 20 games this season, King says it was fun getting to play alongside her friends at the high school level.

Kaylee starred in her first varsity season under the guidance of her mom, Paula King, who is the head coach of Ellington’s girls basketball team.

She says it was a good experience having her mom pushing her to improve.

King finished the season averaging 20 points per game, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.5 steals and was named All-Conference for both the Black River League and the Big Springs Conference.
